James Lighting is both a lighting dealer and a manufacturer of
controllers and dimmer packs. I have a special relationship with
them - In return for my help in designing DMX-512 upgrades for their
existing multiplex product line, James became my first distributor,
selling my products on their website and through their existing dealer
network.

reasonable margins, but the ability to offer protocol translators can
boost sales of other equipment as well - the dealer who can
provide a translator from DMX-512 to microplex is more likely to sell
the upgrade to a DMX-512 controller than the dealer who says "oh, by
the way, you've got to replace all your dimmer packs, too..."
